Team MRE: April Cyclists Bring More Power to People Living With MS

Posted on: November 28, 2016

Houston, TX – November 28, 2016- The holiday season can be both a joy and challenge to many Americans, including those living with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Last week’s Thanksgiving set off the holiday season, but more importantly, it kicked off Team MRE’s 2017 BP MS150 registration. The ride promises to help many living with MS and reduce a few expanded holiday waistlines along the way.

In less than 15 years, Team MRE has pedaled thousands of miles and raised more than $1.3M to fight MS.

The two-day fundraising bike ride organized by the National MS Society, South Central Chapter, is the largest event of its kind in North America, with 13,000 cyclists, 3,500 volunteers, and countless spectators along the route, which begins near Houston and finishes in Austin.

Team MRE consists of MRE employees, family, friends, clients, and random philanthropic cyclists.  They ride for the millions of families and individuals who have been affected by multiple sclerosis.

“MRE as a company makes life better for businesses,” said MRE Vice President Shane Merz. “As a family, we make a difference for individuals.  My Mom suffered from MS for decades before she died and I’d like to think that these funds have helped toward finding a cure.”

About MS

According to the National MS Society, MS is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. For more information, please click here.
