Local Business Sponsors Run to Benefit Abused Children

HOUSTON — September 10, 2013 ― The first annual Child Advocates Superhero Run, sponsored by MRE Consulting, will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013, in Houston’s City Centre. Designed as a fun family event, the run is open to children and adults of all ages (children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult) and includes 1k and 5k courses. MRE Consulting, a Houston-based professional services firm, serves as the race’s “Super Sponsor.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit Child Advocates, Harris County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. “The services provided by Child Advocates — including legal, medical and emotional support — are invaluable.” said Shane Merz, a partner at MRE. “MRE is proud to support Child Advocates in its mission of training volunteers to act as advocates for abused and neglected children.”

Registration is now open at http://www.childadvocates.org/hero/register. Individual registration is $20 for the 1k and $35 for the 5k. MRE is also organizing a team of employees, friends and families to participate in the race. “Everyone is looking forward to suiting up in their favorite superhero costumes and joining in the fun,” Merz said.
